## Language

### Premises and buildings

**Premise**:
One addressable property, identified by its UPRN.
_Avoid_: Property, address, unit

**Premise use**:
A premise's own OS classification (e.g. `RD06` Self Contained Flat), read at its family (Residential, Commercial, Parent shell, ...) or its full code.
_Avoid_: Premise type, category

**Building**:
One OS topographic feature (TOID) holding zero or more premises.
_Avoid_: Structure, TOID (in user-facing text)

**Building type**:
A building's size class from its premise count: MDU, SMDU or SDU.
_Avoid_: Premise type, dwelling type

**Building use**:
A single use assigned to a whole building from the mix of its premises: Residential, Residential-Mixed, Commercial, Commercial-Mixed, Mixed or Other.
_Avoid_: Premise use (that is per premise)

### Land ownership

**Title**:
One registered estate in HM Land Registry, identified by its title number and held either freehold or leasehold.
_Avoid_: Parcel, plot, deed

**Freeholder**:
The first-named proprietor of a freehold title in the Land Registry company-ownership data (UK and overseas companies), identified by company registration number where it has one. A premise's freeholder is the freeholder of a freehold title over the building it sits in; a premise with none known has no freeholder shown, which says nothing about who owns it.
_Avoid_: Landlord, proprietor, owner

### Strategic Map Analyser

**Analysis Area**:
The single polygon a user draws on the Strategic Map Analyser to ask what lies inside it.
_Avoid_: Polygon, boundary, search area

**Area Summary**:
The result of analysing an Analysis Area: premises by use and type, the projects, stocklists and wayleaves touching it, and its largest freeholders.
_Avoid_: Report, analysis results
